Nutrition, and Vitamins for Fibromyalgia

For all the people who have Fibromyalgia turn to usual or unusual treatments in hopes of curbing and eventually eliminating this illness. Keep in mind I am a consumer who only reports information. I do not advocate one way or another. I will preface this by saying any changes in diets or adding supplements your physician should be aware of before starting.

Fibromyalgia is aggravated by caffeine, sugar, fried foods, alcohol, red meat, and highly processed foods. These foods actually irritate the muscles and stress the immune system. The vegan diet is used by some people and they say they have had positive changes in their symptoms. There are dietary supplements that are also used in an effort to reduce inflammation and decrease muscle pain such as magnesium, malic acid,(also in green apples), melatonin, B12, thiamin. Fish oils, turmeric,ginger helps pain and increases sleep. 5HTP increases seratonin level helps depression and sleep. Vitamin D for anxiety and depression. No matter what alternative nutritional or supplement you use, if you feel better, then continue. No two people are alike. So some feel better some don't.There continues to be independent studies on vitamin and minerals to help with the symptoms of muscle inflammation for example. I found no information on studies looking for the cause of the illness.

As a side note one of the best forms of treatment or supplement came to our home one day. A new man in our life we call puppy. It gives me a reason to get up in the morning and to move around. Pet therapy is wonderful for both of us. Yes I said us, Fibromyalgia affects the whole family.

Whatever you decide is the best course of treatments, remember it's your lives and you have to live it. If one thing doesn't workout after a reasonable period of time speak up. The treatment affects both of you. The longer you have Fibromyalgia the more you feel mentally/physically, depressed, and ashamed. If both of you have invested time and energy as a team, you can live as a team. Tell them not to be ashamed of the memory problems/fatigue. The important thing is that we are managing Fibromyalgia. You can use scrapbooks to stimulate memory. We use puppy for the laugh of the day. We use our rituals to make our love stronger. Yes we even use Fibromyalgia, that silent giant as a way of reminding us our marriage is worth fighting for.

Is there other treatments used successfully like mediation, acupuncture and joint manipulation (chiropractor)? You are the only one that can answer that question ,on how they will effect your symptoms. What about a massage therapist? Can Botax help? There are more questions then answers at this time. We are a patient loving team and we will wait for the cure, I know it will come one day.I do hope it is sooner than later.
